This is the third “single” or preview track from Constant Follower’s second album, due next February, and it is another slice of gorgeous, mournful but uplifting Scotch Americana.
It incorporates all the usual CF elements (acoustic strum, searing slide guitar figures, low key bass and percussion, subtle female backing vocal plus band leader McAll’s distinctive half-whispered vocal burr) but explores new areas of darkness and uncertainty with compassion and warmth.
The lyrics allude obliquely to unspecified but definitely horrendous events or situations, best left to the listener’s imagination probably…
It’s also a great tune and further proof that Constant Follower are an understated but mighty force to be reckoned with.
