Colonel Mustard and the Dijon Five

GT / Mission of a Lifetime (Button Up)

By • Jan 5th, 2020 • Category: Single review

A new year, a new single from The Dijon Five – ‘GT’, out January 10th.

Fasten your seatbelts for cosmic adventures – having decided that earth is a somewhat unappetising place, Scotland’s favourite yellow multi-legged groove machine are heading into space. In just under 3 minutes we get takeoff during a monster riff, an outer space adventure including “a planetary epiphany”, and then a somewhat bumpy re-entry…

If you can imagine the mutant spawn of The B52s and the Happy Mondays having a party somewhere in Syd Barrett’s garage, well that might give you some idea…

Using all their usual musical firepower (guitars, brass, percussion, anything else to hand…), this track takes The Dijons further towards pure party perfection – in short, a belter of a track and bodes well for the forthcoming album.

The flipside ‘Mission of a Lifetime’ continues the intergalactic theme, albeit at a slower pace and with a more blissed out vibe… mission accomplished!

The band are headlining a Celtic Connections gig at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on January 17th – join the party, you won’t regret it!
