Chris T-T is one of the best British songwriters of the last 10 years and it seems that he is finally about to get some recognition as his sound has evolved over the years from folk-punk troubadour like a younger Billy Bragg, to a much more rock sound. Fortunately his lyric style; intelligent and witty with added political commentary, has remains intact on his new material. This Gun is not a Gun is another of T-T’s songs about the Iraq war which demonstrates his ability to write great three minute pop songs while still having something to say. It’s even got a guitar solo. An acoustic demo of the song is also included on the CD which is more like his earlier releases and show how his songs have evolved. The Day the Earth Stood Still pt 1 is even more shocking than the solo, sounding very much like a cross between his usual folk-pop with heavy metal. As good as this EP is, T-T is still best appreciated in the live environment, and as he is constantly touring, be sure to catch him at a town near you in 2008.
