Lost Map
Operating under the Martha Ffion moniker again (although active with Former Champ among other acts) Glasgow-dwelling but Irish-by-birth Claire McKay has released this single as lead track from a new album entitled ‘The Wringer’.
A lush and plangent slice of indie/Americana, it displays the familiar tropes of previous MF tracks, ie melodic tune, deliberate nuanced vocals, great harmonies and some lyrical hints of unresolved darkness. So what did they say – we’ll never know! There’s a great, twangy guitar solo (actually two in fact!) and the rest of the band, including some moonlighting members of other Lost Map acts.
It’s not very festive, but it is a belter…
