From one of Paisley’s finest rock power trios comes new split single ‘Scottish Football’ / ‘Horses Of The Galaxy’. In classic Carnivores style, this new release packs a punch with powerful angled riffs and Kenny Leckie’s signature accented vocals. ‘Scottish Football’ is quite a dark number, full of aggression and apprehension, much like the sport itself. Leckie speaks rather than singing for the majority of the track, adding to the football match atmosphere as he creates the sound of fans shouting from the stands and commentators on their muffled microphones echoing through the stadium.
Meanwhile, ‘Horses Of The Galaxy’ is a bit more of a standard rock song, or so you might think. After 2 minutes of a typical “guitar, drums, bass, go!” set up, the band soar into an epic galloping (pun fully intended) rhythm carrying them into the second part of the song with Leckie exclaiming “I don’t expect you to follow me. I expect you to think for yourself.” And, with its ‘Knights Of Cydonia’-esque vibe, what I think about is the band riding white horses and bearing lightsabers… And now you’re thinking it too.
