Every so often something new really fucks with your synapses and you think, I will remember where/when I first heard or saw this band.
In this case it was a fairly uninspiring Monday evening at BM Towers, in mid-November 2018, firstly a snippet on Vic Galloway while tidying the kitchen then BM had to do an elegant pirouette onto Spotify to hear this thing in full, and My Fucking God this is a breath of fresh air.
The pumping energy of this EP from Shetland’s Brundelhorse has got to be heard to be believed, like the Clash on steroids it is an immense sound, with punk, metal and indie influences – it rocks and then some!
The sheer attack of the guitars and the ferocity of the vocals is something to behold (who produced and recorded this? Whoever it was has BM’s respect!).
The four tracks are driving, chaotic, vehement with the rage of youth and are going to give the Scottish public a right kick in the arse when they start playing gigs in bigger venues (which BM predicts they will).
The individual tracks – ‘Birds’, ‘Guns Make Better’, ‘Sail’, and ‘Void’ are all equally good and BM detects hints of Nirvana, Husker Du, and even early Joy Division in these tunes – praise indeed.
