The next in our live session series for is this music? features Edinburgh-based Book Group.
Featuring Graeme Anderson on guitar and vocals alongside percussionist Andrew Brodie, bassist Kevin Fisher and guitarist Michael Morrison, Book Group released their debut album The Great Indoors in May this year. The culmination of 5 years work for the Edinburgh band, the LP follows a series of EPs, singles and shows that have earned them a reputation for well crafted compositions and charismatic performances.
Filmed on the 22nd June in a Leith living room in front of a painting by artist Fraser Gray, this acoustic session sees the band (playing without Brodie) perform three tracks from The Great Indoors: album opener Season of Screams, a song about taking a step back in tough times, Late Show, a song about mistakes and the difficulty involved in putting them right, and The Art of Underachieving, a song about making a good impression and how not everyone is desperate to impress.
