By now everyone is surely aware of the history of Bon Iver, whereby after the break up of a long term relationship, he went off to a cabin in Wisconsin to ‘get his head together’. He returned to civilisation with his debut album For Emma, Forever Ago which has been hailed by critics as nothing short of a “masterpiece” and “a classic”. ‘Forever Emma’ is the first single from the album and takes the form of a play, with the lyrics taking the form of dialogue between the characters, openly referencing the break up of a relationship. The second track ‘Wisconsin’ is much sparser, more experimental, and an important addition to his already impressive canon of work. This is a great single from a stunning album.
