This is the first new material from Blanck Mass for a wee while and it’s as uncompromising as ever, plunging the listener into the middle of what sounds like violent confrontation, probably involving a pack of hounds…
The sampled guitars squall and the heavily treated vocals yell, while Benjamin John Power’s trademark pulsating electronics get to work on pulverising the listener into submission (it’s great to have him back!).
There are keyboard hooks and themes into between the sheer anger and some further banging tribal percussion. It’s a longish track at 6+ minutes and as we continue, there are subtler, more pastoral moments as well, as if the listener is being gradually distanced from the scene of the conflict into some more chilled and mellow state of mind…
Highly recommended, and let’s hope he returns to the live fray sometime soon…
