Artists from Scotland and the world came together to celebrate the life and work of Bert Jansch, the innovative guitarist and folk legend who died in 2011, having played Glasgow’s winter festival in 2006 and 2008
Among those taking part were Archie Fisher, who Jansch himself credited with giving him blues guitar lessons at Edinburgh’s Howff Folk Club in the early 1960s.
Jansch then went on to find fame with Pentangle, whose lead singer Jacqui McShee also featured. Ryley Walker, Martin Simpson and Karine Polwart also took part.
But the biggest names may have been those from outwith Scotland. Former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant topped the bill, paying tribute to one of his own great influences. And former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, Everything But The Girl guitarist Ben Watt, and Blur’s Graham Coxon also featured in a truly international tribute to one of the greats.
