alt-J announce Las Vegas date

Mercury music prize winners play Joint Hard Rock Casino (April 15th)

Mercury music prize winners, alt-J have announced that they will be playing the prestigious Joint Hard Rock Casino on April 13, 2015 as part of their North American tour. The band were formed in 2007 out of Leeds, and will be touring their latest album ‘This Is All Yours’ on their latest trip across the Atlantic.

‘This Is All Yours’ is the follow up to the critically acclaimed and Mercury Music Prize-winning ‘An Awesome Wave’ which saw the band embark on a 24-month long tour riding the hype wave that eschewed after their aforementioned Mercury success. Roll on to 2014, and ‘This Is All Yours’ found its way into many end of year lists as it was viewed as yet another triumph from this very talented Yorkshire bunch. The album later went on to reach #1 in many of the album charts in Europe and had reasonable success in the United States, too.

So an extensive tour to North America seem logical for the four-piece, playing 14 dates, the band will start their tour in Cleveland and finish up at the very popular Coachella Festival on April 18, 2014. Following on from that, alt-J will play dates in Singapore, Australia, France, England, Germany and many more countries as well as a slew of high profile festival performances.

But it’s their show at The Joint in Las Vegas that is arguably the biggest on the tour aside from their scheduled festival appearances. The Joint is part of the Hard Rock brand and has been welcoming some of music’s biggest stars to its stage for the last 30 years. Its relevance is still being felt today, with iconic rock band Journey, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds also playing The Joint in April of this year.

The Hard Rock brand has prospered in Las Vegas over the last 10 years where many casinos have closed, mainly because of its diversity in the entertainment it offers. Some of the smaller casinos on the Strip or in and around Las Vegas, have succumbed to the spiraling losses that incurred when Internet casinos began popping up online in the late 90s through the groundbreaking InterCasino. Now said portal even taps into the music market by launching music-related slots like their very own Megadeth slot which appears on their homepage. With the online casinos rapidly evolving and commanding a huge market share in the gaming industry today it forced the land-based establishment to adapt or fold.

However, because The Joint’s and Hard Rock’s business model wasn’t solely reliant on takings from their casino, the brand stayed strong through all these years. Now their music arm of the business is arguably their strongest and most recognised prospering facet to their business. And luckily for people in Vegas and visiting the city, The Joint has remained at the forefront of live entertainment to this day.

Aside from the already announced dates, alt-J’s record label have revealed that the band will play some additional festivals this year in Europe. The details are set to be unveiled in the coming months.
