Allison Weiss is very much a self styled singer songwriter and a hard-working one at that. Running her own career from website through to gigs through to releases, this is her first full length album release and it’s a lovely piece of work.
Think Kimya Dawson and you’re somewhere in the right genre. With songs about anything and everything she focuses on everyday life and situations.
The music is warm and affecting and it has a knack of drawing you in. You’ll think you’ve heard singer songwriters like this before but she has character and personality that means she won’t just pass you by like other artists in the genre. In some ways that’s much like Kimya Dawson as well and if you’re looking for something sweet and homely feeling then this is a great album. Going back to it around four weeks after the first listen it felt comforting and there’s something right with music that feels like that.
