A sugary, summery slice of laidback pop, ‘Waiting For You’ is how Jack Johnson might sound if he’d grown up in Bristol and North Wales, rather than surfing off the coast of Hawaii. I bet he’s kicking himself now. Lewis has the perfect voice for carrying this kind of tune, and the song itself is both suitably poppy and easy like Sunday morning. He may be just a little too mainstream for some tastes (and he does occasionally sound a bit like Chris de Burgh), but this is pretty much as slick as they come. If only it had been released in the summer he could have had a minor hit on his hands.
