Oh my goodness, another banger from Scotland’s currently most dynamic duo – this is the second track to be released from the forthcoming album, and there is a ridiculous samba backdrop to these musings on middle-aged love. Some guitar from Hubby, piano as well, while everybody’s favourite foul-mouthed would-be Llothario takes vocal duties.
This track probably recalls the classic Moffat/Wells album ‘Everything’s Getting Older’ more than the first track of this collaboration ‘Cockcrow’ (see previous BM review). The line “We’ll be dust, soon enough” especially…
There are some classic Moffat beard-raising couplets, especially in the middle-eight – “This sex machine looks knackered but it’s just a wee bit rust”.
Certainly gets BM in the mood… love it.
Like the oldest indie groover in town, this song just won’t lie down, and is another good portent for the album ‘Here Lies the Body’.
