At the end of a week dominated by Zombies walking the streets of Glasgow there’s something quite fitting to end it with a gig featuring survivors/veterans from the Super Puny Humans.
(And you can include me in that bracket)
First up tonight was Mondegreen (I think) Paws cancelled (yet why does it say that on their t-shirts? Curse you all for messing up my photo tagging!)
I only caught the last couple of songs so it wouldn’t be fair to comment but they sounded interesting enough to check out again in future.
I was more interested to see Miaoux Miaoux as he is someone that I’ve heard a lot about.
Let’s face it, someone who brings out a record with a knitted sleeve damn well better be good!
It took about 3 seconds to forget that I was watching a solo artist with so much going on, both in the music and on the stage.
Lots of beats, loops, guitars and vocals
So if it’s justified it’s not hype, right?
If there is a bootleg or live recording of this gig it should be called ‘How to build a sauna immediately!’ due to the over-enthusiastic smoke machine that greeted Adam’s arrival on stage.
So much that I feared the fire alarm going off.
It did give an extra eerie and ethereal edge to ‘Shot Down You Summer Wannabes’ and it was during this song that it suddenly came to me.
This might be the most minimal gig I’ve ever been to.
There’s the least amount of musicians needed to make it all happen – at least, until the last few songs when Robbie – YiFI, Kim – ZVG, Emily Scott and Louise Ward reprise their roles from the album and join Adam on stage.
All of the music here sounds new to me.
It’s fresh and it’s different.
For me, there is nothing that could have made this a better night.
Hi there. This is Allan the bass player from Mondegreen here. Just thought I’d say it was myself that was wearing the PAWS t-shirt in tribute to themselves, sorry for the confusion!
