Acrylic really impressed BM last year when they supported Ultras at the Hug and Pint.
There have been some more recent gigs from this Central Belt combo (which BM has missed) but 2018 looks like it might see some more action in terms of an EP and more, headline, gigs lined up. In the meantime this their last release proper back in 2017 (aside from a split single with Mt Doubt, which BM will also get around to).
‘Coast’ starts off with Duritti-esque guitars and a strident vocal about “coasting through the daytime”, then the riff kicks in, and you’ve gotta have a riff. This evokes all the best guitar riffs, New Order vs The Bunnymen and lots in between, plus backing vocals. The dynamics are also a bit Two Door Cinema, in a good way, and there is a dreamy quality halfway between anthem and lament.
The instrumental break has a guitar solo with some afrobeat influence and the whole thing builds up into a great crescendo, before leaving us wanting more…
BM predict some good things for this band….you heard it here…
