Lifted from their debut album that was released towards the end of 2008, New York based three-piece A Place To Bury Strangers – one of the hottest new bands around this year – released ‘Missing You’ as a single in April.
In a wonderful cascade of sonic violence, ‘Missing You,’ manages somehow to race and rage whilst at the same time create a dark and brooding feel. Reviews of the album and the band’s live performances have commented on a slight New Order sound. The throbbing bass (and the drum machine sounding beat on the remix) may make this seem a valid comparison, but really A Place To Bury Strangers seem to have taken on board a great many influences – all of the loud! – and thrown them about a bit to come up with an inspirational noise like The Jesus and Mary Chain may have sounded had they been around in the Sixties era of psychedelia.
