Baritone in full force, heartbreaking subject matters placed right at the start of the album, lost loves and old friends all present and correct. Recorded during some time in Nashville, this is a beautiful and moving album made lighter by the complimentary female vocals from Maria McKee and Lhasa de Sela. The latter features on the track ‘That Leaving Feeling’ which forms an unmissable 7’ layered with texture, strings and delicate lyrics on the subject of yesterdays. Its difficult to know if this second solo album from the Tinderstick is some kind of cathartic move or a more optimistic look at wherever he’s heading towards, but either way you won’t regret spending some solemn moments soaking it up.
