Give a man an acoustic guitar and hell learn how to play a Beatles song to his pals. However, if you teach a man how to write songs then more than often than not, hell churn out average songs but believe he is the singular reincarnation of the fab four.
Daniel Rachel, with his second album A Taste of Money, definitely falls into this category, with the sort of simple and uncomplicated run-throughs that Ocean Colour Scene fans will no doubt lap us as indicating proper soul. Its well played and nicely produced and Daniels voice has no real dark spots or annoyances, theres just nothing exciting going on.
Actually, Hearts and Bones, with its quick rhyming like the Um-Bongo advert played on guitar is a bit annoying but the rest doesnt cause much offence. If youre after an album that doesnt cause offence, this is a good as any.
