Personal taste is everything, particularly when it comes to music. Take the Cardinals for example. Hold On starts so promisingly, boasting beautifully soaring chords, contagious chorus, and some lovely cheery little lyrics on top. Great. That is, apart from the whine emanating from the frontmans mouth, masquerading as singing. Its almost as if he a second away from bursting into tears, a noise so utterly aggravating it completely destroys any value or merit the track could, perhaps should, have had. Some may find the vocal uplifting, Id imagine, but perhaps they have a higher threshold for pain.
