Juliette and the Licks formed in 2003, as a five piece with guitarists, Todd Morse (from H20) and Kemble Walters would prove a constant in its, revolving line-ups. Following the departure of Jason Morris, Juliette and her Licks were drummer-less for the second album. Who do you call? Dave Grohl. The former Nirvana drummer agreed to collaborate on some demos in the studio but things went well and he ended up playing on the entire album.
Proving the debut wasn’t a one-off Juliette; the Lick return with ‘`Four to the Floor’ and the first single ‘Hot Kiss’ is true to the bands NY / new-wave style.
It’s not exactly a great departure but this album has more of the old-school rock-and-roll feel with more conviction and zest than before. Their strain of intense garage rock works well and Juliette’s husky vocal delivery is strong and sexy’`what more could you want.
