There aren’t many unsigned bands who could pull off a successful ‘`evening with’ style show but this is exactly what Glasgow natives Logan did in a very special performance in front of a hometown audience. Drawing on material from all three of their albums, they started off with a truly amazing acoustic set whereby they took the opportunity to perform tracks that rarely make into their current live shows.
Stripping their songs down to the bare minimum, it was a chance for the band to give a uniquely emotional performance and show a softer side to their music. Highlights were the touching ‘`Last Goodbye’ and crowd favourite ‘`With Me’.
After a short break Logan returned to the stage, much to the delight of their fans, and proceeded to launch into their own brand of melody-led, heavy rock. The set was high charged, energy driven and a stark contrast to the beautifully acoustic tracks from earlier. Determined to put on a show to remember, the band debuted previously unheard material and their encore included an outstanding version of Tom Petty’s ‘`Free Fallin’ which again showed their diversity and engaging talent.
Watching them on stage, it is easy to forget that they have come this far without the backing of a record company. Their performance shows that they have crafted their own style which sets them apart from the rest of the current music scene. When the trends turn, Logan deserve to be leading the new wave of melodic rock.
