There is a floating, ethereal quality to this album. You start to feel, if you don’t reach out and pin it down, it might simply just float away from you.
It makes you think of softly floating leaves, of lakes with families around them. As nice as it is, is that it makes for a very slight album. You’ll return to it time and again, thinking that you may have missed something, only you’ll never be quite sure what. Soft vocals and gentle chords slowly snag in the ear, taking a while to endear themselves to your tastebuds.
It’s a bit sad, a bit melancholy, but there are too many moods and ideas jostling here for attention. Inevitably, some of them end up getting squashed and disposed of far too quickly.
In short, then, this is a very promising debut which needs a bit more substance.
