We Rock Like Girls Don’t
Welcome To My World (Distort Records)
Ooh, look at you with your grown-up publishing contract and big name producer. I’m assuming it’s the Domino connection that’s go We Rock Like Girls Don’t working with John Goodmanson, but I’ll happily be corrected.
Having worked with everyone from Sepultura to the Wu Tan Clan (via Los Campensinos! so I really do mean everyone) you get the impression that Goodmanson could produce a rock record in his sleep. And, I’m assuming that’s what he did here.
If you’ve ever wondered what the stonking debut album How Did It Get To This would sound like if you depilated the life out of it then every rough edge emeryed off, this is the record for you. (Yes, lady-clichés ahoy!)
The b-side Feeling Lonely Now takes a more psychedelic route. Which doesn’t really help, it’s just as smooth, but with more chorus.
So, a couple of catchy tunes ruined by too much, but just not enough. Shame.
