I’ll be honest, completely honest with you. I wanted to really, really, really hate this. Such is the fickle nature of a buzz band. It’s not great by any means, but at least it’s not another post rock, dancey hi hat mockney northern monkey travesty. It’s very Paul Simon, that much I will warn you. It reminds me of the first time I heard ‘Sloop John B’ on Pet Sounds – it stuck out like a cold dead thumb. One of those traditional songs that US bands drop into their set to scream, yes, we have history.
No, you don’t.
Is it wrong to imagine them dressed like the Style Council as they mute chord, plinky plonk their way through this slightly MOR ditty? I think it is wrong, but just you try not to.
