College 84 (Rockets & Ponies)
Timo Maas’s latest single ‘College 84’ features an unlikely pairing with Brian Molko of Placebo, and despite the two artists being at completely different ends of the musical spectrum, this works.
Timo Maas’s electronic influence is clearly heard on the track, which features a constant, distorted guitar riff synonymous with Placebo’s trademark sounds. It is much more downbeat than a lot of Timo Mass’s past work, but not to the detriment of the track.
This track is a nice little pairing of two seemingly opposites – one for dance and rock fans alike, a smart move for both who will now find themselves appealing to each other’s fanbase. ‘College 84’ is released on Mass’s own label Rockets & Ponies, and is the lead single from his third album, due out in 2012.
