The Void

Game Of Ghosts EP (self-released)

One of Edinburgh’s most exciting musical prospects at the moment, The Void’s sound is a winning combination of Biffyish quirky timing and Fall Out Boyish radio-friendliness. This might make them sound like another of the bazillion Twin Atlantic wannabes littering the toilet circuit venues of the Central Belt, but there’s something about The Void performing live that just stands out. An energy.

These tracks, intentionally or otherwise, sound a little unpolished and gruff – but the quality of the songwriting is such that if they got the right business minds on board, The Void would be mingling with Lily Allen and Lady Gaga in the top ten in no time.

It might be painfully uncool – and in a world with no Top of the Pops or Smash Hits – completely pointless to be mainstream, but when you write songs as catchy as these you’ve just got to accept that a lot of people are going to like them. All three songs are winners. Great things beckon.
