The Twilight Sad

The Twilight Sad headline the opening show of the 4 at the Carnegie Hall. With an acclaimed album under their belts, the Glasgow-based 4-piece are bringing their darkly epic brand of rock to Dunfermline for the first time. The Twilight SadThe band have after all been busy further afield, conquering the USA, as guitarist Andy MacFarlane explained.
“It was strange … we had toured America twice before people started to notice us in the UK,” he says. Though the differences between the actual audiences were minimal. “Apart from the American ones not knowing what we’re saying,” he laughs.

Headlining a Carnegie Hall show is quite a big deal at least in UK terms, although the band have played London’s O2 Arena: “that was big,” he says. But a top-of-the-bill show alongside Idlewild (who play the same venue two days later) is quite a significant gig. “They’re a band we grew up listening to,” confesses Andy, “and we’ve supported them a few times before - but it’s strange to think that we have the same slot as them in the festival.”

The show is the band’s first visit to Fife, so their references to the Kingdom are limited, although an unlikely hero has emerged. “Michaela Tabb, the first female snooker referee to appear on the Crucible comes from Fife, it seems like it will be quite something.”
Indeed.

The Twilight Sad play Dunfermline’s Carnegie Hall on Thursday 15th May along with Frightened Rabbit and Dirty Summer.
