The Sea Kings

In And Out And Gone (...)

These days it’s odd to hear an Scots accent that has an American twang to it, but then again it’s also strange to hear anything coming out of Scotland these days that’s so old-school in sound. However, as the band’s press release firmly states, that they’re a rockabilly beat combo (and from the East End of Glasgow to boot) so perhaps a slight aping of a US sound is inevitable. It’s also surprising that former Delgado Paul Savage has produced this, but he has coaxed the dirty, desperate sound down to a tee, particularly on (what’s surprisingly the) B-side ‘Tooth And Nail’, a tale of deception and murder with an almost industrial backing and a lusty chorus of “let the bastards hang”. Nice.
