This is a compilation put out by a band of nearly-weres who split up and blew it before they had truly made it. If that’s put you off, then don’t let it – this really is quite sweet pop.
These songs sound like they could have been written yesterday. They come across like a cross-fertilization of Gun and Teenage Fanclub, with the riffs and raunch factor of the former and the lingering lilt and drifting melodies of the latter. Think Gallus crossed with Bandwagonesque.
The songs tell the usual tales of loves lost and found and sound all the sadder in the light of knowing that the band isn’t around to perform them anymore, but this disc, if it has a purpose, should serve to remind young bands everywhere that you should never give up after just one lot of bad gigs.
