This is a sound that has been well honed on the live stages of Edinburgh and Scotland’s West Coast – two tougher training grounds you will not find.
This set fizzes with live energy and vitality and a need to succeed. There are plenty of hooks in ‘My Last Favour’ to get your teeth into, not least in the title track, recalling The La’s in their sunnier moments. These are tunes you’ll be humming long after the disc has stopped spinning. One hopes they’ll be able to carry their evident sonic enthusiasm over to their upcoming debut album (which is coming soon?). If all goes well they’ll be the next Teenage Fanclub. If it doesn’t, they’ll be the next La’s.
