It’s hard to say what is particularly good or particularly bad about this Edinburgh four-piece because at the same time as having everything a good rock band needs, from powerful lyrics and vocals to pounding drums, killer melodies and a good dose of heavy riffage, there’s something about them that just seems a little bit too average. The reason for this is perhaps because they have the sound of a proper live rock band and we all know live music kicks recorded music’s ass any day in most genres.
The repeated lyrics in ‘Slide Away’ for example, may grow tiresome for some ears on its own but as a live track, it would undoubtedly raise hell in the audience. This isn’t to say the EP is terrible but simply that it doesn’t do justice for the band’s true sound and, like many bands, if you enjoy the EP you will enjoy their live shows tenfold.
