Shellsuit Massacre
DKB (Policetastic)
Clad in a natty booklet and perhaps aptly smelling of fags, the Edinburgh two-piece on ‘Yi Hoodies’ are on a journey withoot arrival”.
Probably not from Morningside, this pair of poets deliver Scots east coast take on John Cooper-Clarke, or an electro-powered Arab Strap too concerned with Edinburgh’s casual violence (see also ‘Drug King Bully’, similar ideology but a choon you can dance to) to ever let their thoughts stray in the direction of their trousers.
‘Gangs’ is a list of, yes, gangs, which includes alongside “Niddrie Terror” and Glasvegas faves “Young Baltic Fleet”, ”the Catholic Church” and “NHS Lothian”. Couldn’t possibly comment, but never have the streets of Edinburgh seemed so ‘real’ since the last batch of venues were torn down to build yuppie flats.
