‘Get to The River…’ is an absolute delight of an EP from Californian singer/songwriter Alex Brown Church. The songs are warm and full of charm, with enough variety and ideas to hold your interest, and despite coming across all Conor Oberst on ‘I Made A Resolution’, it is a strong statement ahead of forthcoming full-length, ‘Leaves In The River’. The songs are hazy and mournful but with an innate optimistic undercurrent, and they’ll stick with you, especially the sublime ‘I Don’t Know If I’ll Be Back This Time’. Full of promise.
