Some musicians have just got it. It may be a debateable term but everybody is in agreement that it at least exists. When the audience hears a single or album for the first time and everything clicks, that’s when it comes into play.
One record label who have been producing it for over two decades now is Glasgow’s Electric Honey Records. Famous for giving the likes of Belle & Sebastian and Biffy Clyro their big breaks, the in-house label for Glasgow’s Stow College is a bonafide hit maker. And hoping to join that long list of famous alumni are Schnarfschnarf.
Don’t let the name fool you, these lads mean business. While it’s maybe not the most tip-of-the tongue moniker for a group, their music certainly does the talking and more than makes up for it. Edgier indie pop that could cut your finger, they are on the verge of producing their first EP and set to soar.
With a number of tracks already set down, Schnarfschnarf are the latest product of a programme with an impressive and envious rack record. Benefitting from years of experience and a teaching ethos that throws students straight in at the deep end, Electric Honey don’t mess about when it comes to their music and musicians.
And that’s quite clear on the band’s track ‘Urrrgh’. Again, perhaps a little raw and green behind the ears when it comes to titles, the music itself is sound and enjoyable. Up tempo, lonesome and peppered with a dash of youthful energy, there’s plenty to enjoy hear for young and old.
Accompanied by similar tracks ‘FEAR’ and ‘Dirt’, Schnarfschnarf have teased audiences with their upcoming prowess. Meaningful lyrics and strong vocals will be the draw for this band and there are surely legions of fans ready and waiting to follow their every step. It looks like Electric Honey have done it again.
