Self-styled ‘tropical pop’ that doesn’t actually, call to mind ‘Dreadlock Holiday’ by 10cc but more pertinently slick Franz Ferdinand style funky riffs with a refreshingly restrained approach that allows things to breathe quite nicely, advocates of ‘less is more’ can feel vindicated, guitars hang in the air and resonate beautifully with warmth. The chorus sounds a little bit like Arcade Fire’s ‘Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)’, it just does.
This is fine songwriting tempered solely by a synth solo that sounds so outdated it threatens to collapse time itself. Still that’s the only thing that’s really at fault here.
