Ireland’s Pocket Promises are fleet of foot. Parading a selection of softly sung Celtic folk songs they manage to be, as sometimes befits the genre, neither glib nor dull. Instead, it’s a perfectly rendered melodic breeze through effortless, wistful nostalgia. The vocals err on the side of Sharkey, and the music, whilst not scoring high on the brain shredding chart, holds enough hooks and claws to keep you coming back.
