This is very 80s but in a good way. There’s the propulsive drum rhythms of Simple Minds and the doomy goth air of the best Cure albums. There’s also the waves of feedback one associates with My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus And Mary Chain’s most inspired moments.
The drums get the attention and heartbeat going and the feedback sweeps you well along in its wake, leaving your ears ringing and the melody snagged well within you.
It is to be hoped that theirs is not the kind of talent that only works in three or four minute bursts of inspiration but if they can pull it off, it should be really something.
