Naked Remedy

Naked Remedy (self-released)

By Ross Dunn • Jul 23rd, 2010 • Category: long players

I’m in two minds about Naked Remedy. ‘Low Down’ is a visceral track, lyrically and musically and the end product sounds so tired and worn, it feels like I’ve heard it a million times before. The guitarist thinks his bluesy guitar riffs are the best thing since Frank Zappa’s moustache, and Frank’s moustache isn’t that great anyway.
‘Freedom’ sounds a bit jazzier – the guitarist redeeming himself a bit before he decides to produce some more riffs in the verse that are as innovative as a Michael Stipe’s make-up.
At least Naked Remedy’s pedals have been put to good use in the self-titled mini-album – Hello wah-wah. ‘Remedy’ shows signs of promise within the band, so we can live in hope that they’ll try to get a bit more creative and realise that being compared Mick Jagger is not a compliment.
