No messing around with build-up here – from the first note of the first track, no sooner than you can say “shoegaze”, you’re swept into Motion Picture Soundtrack.
Aptly named, the band has a wide-screen, cinematic approach to music making and their guitars swoop, majestically, around everything else. There’s a lot going on, so each time you listen you might unpick something new from the overall tapestry of sound; or, if you don’t fancy concentrating, you could just let it wash over you.
As a debut EP, this is a strong, epic statement of intent. Departure or no, Motion Picture Soundtrack ain’t going anywhere.
