Kaleidoscope Eyes
Entheogen (Flowers in the Dustbin)

Cumbernauld rockers Kaleidoscopic Eyes are all about atmosphere. EP opener ‘Entheogen’ bursts from the blocks with earth-shattering feedback, before slamming on the brakes to become in a mellow, rousing chorus before tearing back into the riff come chorus time.
It’s a tried-and-tested technique, but frontman Graeme Rankin cuts through the fuzz to let his melodic voice carry the track ever-so-gently. Rankin gives an equally adept display on ‘Night Calling’, which floats along rather pleasantly without ever going anywhere. It is a decent enough record, however, and should inspire greater things to come if they can be more purposeful with their direction.
