Second release, it seems, from a new label from Scotland’s frozen north. And while the themes in the couple of songs on this 7” single are ‘cold’ - ‘She Waits By The Shore’s subject is “expecting to see otters”, it seems - there’s a underlying warmth to the tune. Simple acoustic-based folk music is suffused by some involving production with thrumming bass, swelling accordion, and decidely non-traditional glitchy breakbeats. ‘Wandering Man’, similarly, drags folk music beyond the point that King Creosote and chums have taken it, with stark tones in the intro contrasting with multi-layered guitars and echoey vocals. Lovely stuff - summer can’t be far away.
