itm? poll results

results (2007)

The votes have been totted up and here are the top 5s in the 2007 itm? poll, as voted by YOU !

Best band: Sigur Ros (14.3%)

The Icelanders fighting off the finest from England and the USA (interesting demographic note: Biffy Clyro polled twice as many votes in the Scots poll)
2. Battles (9.9%)
3. Arctic Monkeys (9.0%)
4. Beirut (8.3%)
5. Editors (6.1%)

Best male solo: Jeffrey Lewis (16.1%)

Easily the hardest-fought category with a handful of votes separating the top 6 (Neil Young at #6 with 10.6%)
2. Seasick Steve (16.0%)
3. Morrissey (15.9%)
4. Sufjan Stevens (15.4%)
5. Bonnie Prince Billy (11.0%)

Best female solo: Bjork (25.0%)

Another predictable one with Bjork having few rivals, thought top marks to Candythief for running her close.
2. Candythief (19.6%)
3. PJ Harvey (13.5%)
4. Kate Nash (12.9%)
5. Amy Winehouse (7.8%)

Best album: Arcade Fire - Neon Bible (16.0%)

Almost a shoo-in with a couple of hundred votes separating the winners from the also-rans and knocking the likes of the Kate Nash and Herman Dune out of the top 5
2. Peter, Bjorn and John - Falling Out (10.8%)
3. Justice - Cross (10.5%)
4. Battles - Mirrored (8.3%)
5. iLiKETRAiNS - Elegies To Lessons Learnt (6.6%)

Best live act: Sigur Ros (15.0%)

Best band, live act - is there nothing that Sigur Ros aren’t capable of? (5 excellent choices at the top incidentally!)
2. Arcade Fire (10.0%)
3. Jeffrey Lewis (9.8%)
4. iLiKETRAiNS (8.1%)
5. Thomas Truax (6.3%)

Best newcomer: The Wombats (15.6%)

A disturbing amount of votes for Ms Nash, a surprising amount for the dance stylings of Justice, but perhaps a predictable winner.
2. Justice (15.0%)
3. Kate Nash (14.8%)
4. Cold War Kids (10.2%)
5. iLiKETRAiNS (8.5%)

Best video: Bearsuit - More Soul Than Wigan Casino (24.8%)

Aha! The Sound of Young Norwich making its way into the world of moving pictures and fighting off corporate videos paid for by The Man into the bargain.
2. Bjork - Earth Intruders (24.0%)
3. Thomas Truax - Why Dogs Howl (10.1%)
4. Herman Dune - Wish That I Could See You Soon (6.2%)
5. Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (5.6%)

Best Venue: Amsterdam Paradiso (15.0%)

With the London vote split 8 ways the Paradiso somehow sneaks in under the wire. Still, a more rock/street cred winner than the O2 Arena, we’d have thought…
2. Scala, London (13.6%)
3. O2 Arena (London) (12.9%)
4. Dublin Castle, London (12.1%)
5. Crawdaddy, Dublin (7.3%)

Best festival: All Tomorrow’s Parties (34.7%)

So this is where you all get to? Showing an astonishing lack of fortitude in the top 3 with only the Glasto-goers braving the elements, the SXSW crew topping up their tans… top marks for getting as far afield as Japan and Spain, mind…
2. Glastonbury (22.8%)
3. SXSW (15.0%)
4. Benicassim (8.4)
5. Tokyo (5.1%)
