Heaven’s Basement bring an incredible amount of raw passion to their onstage performance reminiscent of those of classic rock/metal bands in the 80s which in this day and age is a rare find, therefore it’s not entirely surprising how the group have become one of Britain’s hottest upcoming rock acts.
Tickets have been selling out rapidly for the quartet’s latest headline tour which included Glasgow’s sold out show at Ivory Blacks and to tell the truth this gig was definitely not one to be missed. Judging by the turnout on the night it would seem that Glasgow’s audience had similar reasoning in mind as the crowded venue was packed to the rafters with sweaty fans highly anticipating the arrival of Heaven’s Basement. From the onset of the band’s opening song ‘Welcome Home’ and singles such as ‘Fire Fire’ the gig began with a defiant introduction.
The night paved way for mosh pits and headbanging only to be further induced when the band’s energetic lead singer Aaron Buchanan head walked over the crowd whilst he grasped onto the venues lights above until he reached the back of the venue for a short intimate set at the bar and then eventually crowd surfed his way back to the stage. Not only did this happen once but in fact twice during the group’s set therefore it was no wonder that the charismatic frontman had to pause for a quick interlude in which guitarist Sid Glover and bassist Rob Ellershaw held up the fort to perform an older song called ‘Paranoia’.
With influences from Led Zeppelin to Guns N’ Roses, Heaven’s Basement have been steadily attracting a variety of fans which can only show how widely approved the band’s sound has been received in the current rock industry. That’s not to say that their music sounds anything remotely similar to their inspirations as debut album ‘Filthy Empire’ takes on a modern edge to the genre.
Closing the show Heaven’s Basement performed ‘Executioner’s Day’ which provided an all around heavy display of powerful vocals through an incredibly catchy chorus leaving the audience begging for more.
