Stop Repeat (Alex Tronic)

This is a crazed, driven, based-up brute of a disc. That much is clear right from the opening notes and it is this seething, angel-of-vengeance attitude which drives the whole set. It makes for a nice change from all those insipid electronic beats one hears in clubs these days.
There is a real, haunting, cinematic quality to the music, which draws you in to the vale of darkness and makes you sit there, enticed and entranced. The film in question this time would be sure to be a cross between a spaghetti version and one of Ingmar Bergman’s early, sexually charged works. It’s got that mix of blazing sunshine and earthy yet innocent sexuality to it. It is a very beautiful, ethereal disc.
The sounds will linger long in your head after the disc has finished spinning. It is, in many ways, the kind of disc that is perfect for releasing at this time of year.
