Star
(filtromusic)
Secrets of the pop business, part 23. Filtro’s press release states proudly how Philip MacConnell (Glasgow-born but now living in Spain) has worked with Rolling Stones, Metallica, The Who and Springsteen. Impressive, eh? A handwritten note explains that yes, true, but, as their interpreter.
Which is less of a surprise as the Scottish summery janglesome pop on this 4-track CD would, quite frankly, have no place no the same stage as those 4 tired old staples of the world of establishment rock. Instead, Filtro’s sound on ‘Star’ is fresh and new, a decidedly Scottish feel to this one with shimmering guitars and Californian-via Bellshill “wooh-wooh” backing vocals.
