Connected (Tender Age)

The title track has a nice iciness, will certainly function on a dancefloor, but the problem is when those first notes kick in you think, “Okay, Crystal Castles it is, then, here we go…” and the feeling never really leaves. If there’s an overarching problem beyond the anxieties of who D/r/u/g/s operate under the influence of, it’s that everything feels like the extend-o-mix of a track, which makes you dread the inevitable extend-o-mix when it comes out. The other two tracks, ‘Unified Field’ and ‘Hyperdream Clap’ are the definition of afterthoughts. ‘Unified’ could soundtrack something interesting but is too one-D on its own. As for ‘Hyperdream…’, well, if dreams were that boring you wouldn’t know when you were asleep. It’s like dreaming about doing your calculus homework.
