Darker My Love

Dear Author (Dangerbird)

This may be the closest thing the noughties has to psychedelic rock. ‘Dear Author’ is the first single to be released from ‘Alive As You Are’ – the latest album from indie-psy-rock band Darker My Love. ‘Dear Author’ is relaxed and not overstated, yet shows clear talent from all involved. It has a steady, repetitive vibe – vibe being an appropriate word. Influences of the mid-to-late ’60s are woven into the tapestry of this song, and I think it’s fab that this era is still prominent in today’s music. You dig? Groovy. Etc. One would assume that just under three minutes (the length of the track) is a substantial length of time for a single, yet I’m left feeling a bit dissatisfied. Maybe that’s their trick: leave ’em wanting more. Well, it works – well played Darker My Love.
