A Torn Mind

(self-released)

An ambitious recording running longer than most albums, the debut EP from this Livingston-based progressive rock band is heavily influenced by such prog luminaries as Dream Theater and Genesis.

Miniature Dinosaurs

Chatterbox EP (self-released)

Formed just over a year ago, the maturity of Stirling’s Miniature Dinosaurs can be a bit frightening. The songs on ‘Chatterbox’ are polished up-tempo pop numbers that almost routinely boast big, powerful choruses and hooks with an abundance of indie credibility.

iDriveHome

Vegas (myspace.com/iDriveHome)

This is a weird one. Kicking off with a guitar intro like something from the first Clash album

Frightened Rabbit

(Fat Cat)

The first thing you notice about the title track is the anthemic sound and upbeat nature. However, this does not mean everything is taking a turn away from the melancholic indie-pop sound the band have established.

Twin Atlantic

Lightspeed (Red Bull)

From the Proclaimers to Glasvegas, so many bands attempt to sing in their native Scottish accent (slang words included), with few succeeding and the rest just embarrassing us Scots. However Glaswegian foursome ‘Twin Atlantic’ seem to get it bang on every time.
