This Aberdeen 4-piece release a 5-track EP which shows them up as a versatile crew with, we guess, a wide-ranging record collection. ‘Comiston Springs’ is a cracker and could be a very pop Wedding Present, or a near-neighbour of fellow-east coasters Kid Canaveral, while ‘The Witching Hour’ is a bit more considered, still a chest-beating anthem (in the most subtle sense of course) in a Grizzly Bear way. ‘Passing The Horse’ is almost a Beatles for the 21s Century, and the most genuinely ‘pop’ song here. ’Crematory Blues’ is a subdued, melancholy acoustic snippet while closer ‘Tree Sleep’ almost – almost – rocks out with its big beats but is tempered with a sweet pop tune. In all, a promising debut.
